From Riot Official web site: UKsubs.com As the old saying goes, "punk is an attitude." Having been around in some form for more than 25 years now, the U.K. Subs are one of the mainstays of the grand old punk scene - the Golden Age, you might say. And they owe quite a bit to radio, licensed and otherwise. It was the famous trend-setting radio BBC Radio One radio DJ John Peel who convinced the band to initially make records. The rest, as they say, is history. While the U.K. Subs' first release was way back in 1977, it took the band until 1996 to write and record "Rebel Radio." It is short, sweet and scathing - getting right to the point and pulling no punches: Politicians are liars This band has been through it all - the scruffy days of squatting and scrounging, break-ups and reformation, even Top 10 singles and television appearances. Somehow, though, they've been able to retain their wit and fire. You can read the definitive history of the U.K. Subs (both through band members' eyes and the press) at New Red Archives. |
